Vacation Rental Turnover Cleaning: A Checklist for SWFL Airbnb Hosts

In vacation rentals, the cleaning is the product. A spotless turnover is what earns the five-star review; a missed detail is what earns the one-star. Here's the checklist we work through on every turnover.

Kitchen

Wipe and disinfect all counters and the sink · clean the stovetop, microwave inside and out, and the outside of the fridge · empty and wipe the fridge of any leftovers · run and empty the dishwasher · restock dish soap, sponges, and paper towels · check and empty the trash with a fresh liner.

Bathrooms

Scrub and disinfect the toilet, shower, tub, and sink · polish mirrors and fixtures · replace towels with fresh, folded sets · restock toilet paper, soap, and any amenities · empty trash. In our climate, we pay extra attention to any humidity spots and glass-door tracks.

Bedrooms & living areas

Strip and launder all linens, then remake the beds hotel-style · dust surfaces, lamps, and fans · fluff and arrange pillows and throws · reset furniture and décor to the listing photos · check under beds and couches for anything a guest left behind.

Floors & whole-home

Vacuum carpets and rugs · sweep and mop all hard floors · wipe entry doors and high-touch points (switches, handles, remotes) · clear cobwebs · quick lanai or patio tidy, which matters a lot for SWFL guests.

The five-star finish

The last ten minutes are what guests remember: a neat, staged look, fresh smell, remotes and chargers in place, and a final walk-through with fresh eyes. We also flag any damage or low supplies so you hear about it before your guest does — not after.
